At Ziving Badía we have already warned about the excessive adolescent and youth consumption of energy drinks. All these substances are not very different from carbonated soft drinks. Although you can read on their packaging that they are sugar-free, they are still very aggressive to the teeth.
A similar situation occurs with packaged juices. Of course, there is no problem with orange juice or other juices that can be made at home using fresh fruit, but when we give our children ready-made juices bought from the supermarket, we are subjecting them to the risk of tooth decay.
The problem lies in the sugars they contain; and as we have already mentioned, they are still present even if the packaging says that there are no added sugars. In particular, the sugars in several brands of these drinks are particularly aggressive towards enamel, also facilitating access to the bacteria that lead to tooth decay.
Packaged juices contain sugars that are very harmful to teeth.
Therefore, our advice is to prepare juices at home or give them only water if you do not take them with you. However, there are many situations in which drinking is unavoidable. In these cases, the best thing to do is to clean teeth immediately after drinking and reduce consumption as much as possible.
Of course it's fine if they drink one or two of these juices a month or occasionally, but the problem is if they get used to drinking them every day with a snack, for example, and then go off to play without a thorough brushing. If you want more information on this subject, don't hesitate to visit us and ask us all your questions when you bring your children for their next check-up.
