When we are parents, and we see our children's teeth appearing, we are already thinking about on when to take them to the dentistWe can also find out when is the most advisable age and how we can save money on the possible orthodontics that will have to be fitted.

All these doubts are related. The sooner you take your child to the dentist, the sooner action can be taken on teeth, and prevention, in orthodontics and in any field of dental health, is always cheaper than corrective action.

At our dental centre in Sabadell we specialise in preventive orthodontics. That is to say, we act on the future eruption of the permanent teeth by observing the baby teeth. Baby teeth are the 'back-up' to the permanent teeth. They pave the way, prepare the ground, then fall down and the permanent teeth erupt.

Four years is a good age for the first dental check-up.

What we do with preventive orthodontics is, from the age of five, to put in an orthodontic appliance even when all the milk teeth have not yet fallen out. In that way, we guide the permanent teeth into place. This technique represents a tremendous saving in relation to future orthodontic treatment, it is not correctiveIt is preventative, so it causes much less discomfort, and is much more natural.

Having said that, it is highly recommended not to visit us for the first dental check-up after the age of five. It is advisable to come at the age of four, because that way we can also give you recommendations on toothbrushing, good practices, flossing and interdental cleaning.

It seems very early at four years old, but by doing so, your child will learn the importance of taking better care of their teeth and we will be able to see if they can, through early interceptive orthodonticsIf you have braces, you will not have to wear braces in the future.
